and Environmental Health
The
Autism Society of America is pleased to announce the
release of its newest online course, Autism and the
Environment 101. Sponsored by the John Merck Fund,
this introductory-level course was designed to give individuals
with autism spectrum disorders, parents, other family members,
physicians, educators or anyone affected by autism a general
overview of the links between environmental toxins and autism.

access to legislators:
Floridians for the Future of the Developmentally
Disabled (FFDD)
What is the FFDD? It's a Continuing Committee
of Existence and was created to advance services and
funding for the developmentally disabled. FFDD was created
to collectively strengthen the voice of the Developmentally
Disabled and to help elect public officials who are
committed to advancing legislation that benefits this
special population. From the site you can contact
legislators, register for waiver info, contact the news
media, and share your story among other important issues!

Molecular
and Genetic Epidemiology of Autism: An Autism Genetics Study
Help
researchers understand the possible genetic causes of ASDs.
The purpose of the study is to learn more about the genetic
factors that may cause a child to develop an autism spectrum
disorder.
What
does participation involve?
Researchers from the University of Miami will contact families
by phone to complete interviews about the familys
medical and developmental history and will also come to
the familys home to obtain blood samples from family
members.
Who
can participate?
Families who have at least one child, age 21 or younger,
who is diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder (autism,
Aspergers disorder, or PDD-NOS)
